Empowering Education in Rural Regions

Supporting Education and Innovation.

We work with children living in rural and urban extreme poverty to improve their access to a quality education, particularly focusing on marginalized groups including girls, orphans and children with disabilities.

A quality education is vital to increasing children’s chances of achieving qualifications and improving their earning opportunities. Our involvement ranges from running teacher training courses to improving school infrastructure. We consult children to find out what inhibits their access to good education – such as child labor – and develop projects to help them overcome obstacles.

Running activities like after-school clubs, holiday programmes and children’s assemblies underpins the core skills children learn at school and reduces the risk of dropping out. These activities also provide opportunities to raise children’s awareness of their right to education, and help them advocate for their own education.

Support for Communities

NNEdPro's Teaching Kitchens project empowers communities by sharing knowledge and skills through the medium of nutrition education. It aims to enhance health and wellbeing for women, children and families across communities, especially urban slums, as well as beyond. The mothers, who are based in slum settings and often work as household assistance, were then supported to begin the next phase of the project by initiating a micro-enterprise model.

Centre for Respect & Understanding

The Centre for Respect & Understanding is established within the Cordia Group of Institutes in Sanghol, a village of archaeological and historical significance located in Punjab. Sanghol's rich cultural heritage reaches back from the late Harappan era and the Kushan period to Mughal and Sikh history. The Cordia Group of Institutes owes its creation to the drive and vision of Lord Diljit Rana, Baron of Malone, who is Member of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom and Honorary Consul for India to Northern Ireland. Committed to transforming the state of rural education at his birthplace in Sanghol, Punjab, Lord Rana established a non-profit education campus, Cordia Group of Institutes. It was inaugurated by former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2006.

“With the support from Lord Rana Foundation Charitable Trust U.K, we have been able to serve our students better than ever.”
